Hey, everyone!!
Today during my meetup with Cherrish, I was able to assist her a bit with her business. Cherrish gave me the task of cutting the tulle fabric pieces for petticoats that were to be attached to her client's dresses. I also made markings for the elastic waistbands and sewed the side seams. I am glad that I was able to be of some use to Cherrish, as she definitely has been a big help to me!!
Cherrish, again, shared some great advice for me to think about as far as my future fashion design career is concerned. She shared a bad experience she had in doing custom orders and mentioned that the main reason why she does not do custom orders is because the client can tend to be too indecisive, demanding, and hard to please. That is the risk with doing custom orders.
As far as starting a business, Cherrish suggested that I first find my niche. Once I figure out what kind of garments I want to focus on, I must devote time to mastering the construction of the garments. Of course, in order to make a collection, all I need to do is create multiple variations of the main garment.
I am looking forward to the day when I am ready to take on the risky, yet exciting venture of starting my own buiness and creating my own clothing line!!
