Hello, everyone.
I know that I set out for this blog to be a place where I share the things that make me happy. But I would like to try something new and use this post to shed some light on an important issue that has been plaguing America.
Regarding the murdering of #AltonSterling and the others who were senselessly killed...
For those people asking "What does this situation have to do with race?" Or those foolishly believing that it doesn't…wake up!! When have most mistreatment and injustices in America not have anything to do with race? Movements like that of the Civil Rights didn't happen just for the heck of it. For those of you who are privileged and are never mistreated or discriminated against, do not make the assumption that such misfortune does not happen to others. And for those who do not think race is an issue here in America, you are part of the problem. May I remind you that America is built on slavery, the origin of racism.
Whether or not people want to admit it, Black Lives Matter is a movement and should not be undervalued!! Yes, all lives matter, no one is saying they don't. But we can't sit here and pretend that the African American community does not have a bulls-eye on it for unjust happenings in America.
Just because the ones doing the killings have badges, does not make these murders justified. Such cops are abusing authority that should have never been given to them in the first place. With all of these senseless deaths, one would think that cops are trained to "gun the "suspect" (victim) down if you meet even the slightest of resistance, regardless of whether or not he/she is armed with a weapon."
America has got to do better and not let these cops off the hook. We should be growing tired of this nation's unjust system. #AltonSterling #BlackLivesMatter #PrayForJusticeInAmerica
