Mood Boards
This is a mood board I created for my final project in one of my design classes that focused on flat patterning and jacket designs. For this project, we had to come up with a jacket design that was inspired by a theme of our choice, but consisted of elements of menswear jackets. We also had to create a skirt that matched the jacket. For my theme I chose men's sports jackets of the 1950s.
I made this board in my in my fourth sewing class (Apparel Design by Draping). Four my first project, I was given a store (Chicos) and had to make a shift/sheath dress that would go along with the merchandise that the store already carries. I saw that Chicos had a lot of solids and tribal prints, so I decided to mix the two.
For my final project in my Apparel Design by Draping course, I had to make a strapless gown inspired by a Mardi Gras theme. I chose to base my design around the draping decorations of Mardi Gras.
I helped to make this mood board during my summer 2013 internship with Mishqua Handbags. I collaborated with Mishqua to come up with inspiration for her handbags in summer. We researched trends for the season and found that light blues, green, pink, purple, red, and orange are popular colors. So we cut and paste images from magazines and tacked them on the board.
For my senior collection course at university, I had to make a collection to be put in my school's fashion show ran by the Synergy club. It was required to choose a word or phrase and develope a collection that communicates the word or phrase. I wanted my collection to be personal, so I decided to make a collection based on the U.S. Air Force Uniforms, due to the fact that my parents met in the Air Force. The word I chose was integrity, one of the important traits of the U.S. Air Force.
These are the technical flats for my senior collection course.
